UMBC Dance Team and Cheerleaders are a group of talented and passionate performers who love to interact with UMBC fans in the community and spread school spirit as part of UMBC Athletics gameday entertainment. We are always looking to level up our team so that we can continue sharing the retriever spirit with a little bit of sparkle! As part of UMBC Spirit Groups, Dance Team and Cheerleaders attend every Men’s and Women’s home basketball games played at the Event Center. At the end of every season, we travel to and perform at the America East Conference tournaments. In 2018 we had the privilege of traveling to the NCAA Tournament for March Madness. We watched our Men's Basketball team make history and beat University of Virginia. It was the first time that a #16 seed beat a #1 seed. Cheering on the sidelines and performing our halftime and timeout routines are always our dancers’ and cheerleaders’ favorite moments from the team. While our season is currently virtual, UMBC will always need school spirit, probably now more than ever!
Community outreach is another focus of UMBC Dance Team and Cheerleaders’. Our event past appearances include Annual 4th of July parades in Catonsville and Arbutus, St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Charlotte, North Carolina, where we won Best Performance Group and multiple charity runs and walks hosted in support for diabetes, breast cancer, and muscular dystrophy. Sharing memorable moments with the local community is what makes the UMBC Dance Team and Cheerleaders proud to represent UMBC outside of our campus! We would love to continue growing our program with your help!
