The Haud Collumi Scholarship, named after the famed “No Neck” pregame dance, was established by the UMBC Rugby Alumni Association to award a current UMBC Men’s Rugby Player for outstanding achievements on the pitch and in the classroom. UMBC Men’s Rugby is the only club team in the area currently offering a scholarship, and we are now looking to expand.

The UMBC Men’s Rugby Club awards the Haud Collumi Scholarship to one current player each academic year. The scholarship, now in its eighth year, is awarded to a player and student  who has been with the club for at least two full years and maintains at least a 3.25 GPA. While the club is certainly proud to offer this scholarship to a deserving student-athlete each year, we have bigger goals in mind.

Our current goal is to offer two scholarships in the next academic year – one to a current player, and one to an incoming freshman rugby player. Rugby has grown tremendously in recent years, and we believe that offering a scholarship to an incoming player would be of tremendous benefit to the club and the growth of the sport locally.

Please consider contributing to the Haud Collumi Scholarship.  Every donation will make a difference and help support two possible scholarship recipients.

Meet This Year’s Scholarship Recipient!

The 2019 Haud Collumi Scholarship recipient is Drew Averett. Drew, the team captain and starting inside center, is a Media and Communications Studies major planning to graduate in December 2019.

Please take a moment to congratulate Drew for his achievement!
