SWE at UMBC strives to create a powerful force of women confident in their chosen engineering field and provide the necessary resources for them to succeed in their collegiate and professional journey. We build mutual respect and confidence in the competence of those with whom we lead, serve and partner with and provide an organization that fosters mentoring and the development of professional and personal networks. In addition, we embrace diversity, create a voice for minorities in engineering by broadening participation in STEM, and create an inclusive environment for women studying engineering and other STEM disciplines.
Why we need your support!
We are currently looking for funding in order to send women to the national SWE conference that will be held in November 2020 in New Orleans! Conferences allow us to attend empowering talks about how to succeed in a new workplace and promote ourselves, learn about emerging technologies in engineering, and connect with other women engineers from around the country! We also get the opportunity to visit their massive career fair with over 400 companies that can help us reach our goals after graduation, whether that be a graduate degree, research, or industry work. Last year, UMBC SWE received over 12 interviews and over 7 job/internship offers at the national SWE Conference!
These opportunities are once in a lifetime, so any contribution you can make will help us get to experience it. Thank you, in advance, for your generosity and support!
All funds raised are administered by the UMBC Foundation for the benefit of UMBC.
