Help VITA Serve the Community
UMBC’s branch of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program connects students with individuals in need of help. VITA At UMBC student volunteers are trained and certified to prepare and file tax returns with the IRS and the state of Maryland, and serve low income individuals and families in the area for free. VITA provides valuable financial coaching, tax advice, and benefits referrals to those in need through partnerships and on-site expertise. VITA volunteers gain important personal and interpersonal skills while interacting with a diverse set of clients.A partner site of the CASH Campaign of Maryland, VITA At UMBC was founded in Fall 2015 by UMBC students and staff.
